Patient Participation Group

A new Patient Participation Group has recently been formed at Jacksdale Medical Centre. The aim of the group is to work alongside the surgery staff to improve services and promote health and wellbeing. We hope to enable patients to voice their ideas and views of the services currently offered by the practice. We also plan to offer a range of activities, do our own fundraising, and organise talks by health professionals and guest speakers.

If you are a patient at Jacksdale Medical Centre and are interested in joining the group please contact the surgery on 01773-608760.

Please note:  No patient names or personal medical details will be given to any members of the Group

The group acts as a “critical friend” and are an important point of contact between patients and the Practice. The PPG continues to break down barriers and improve communication and information between patients and the Practice. We provide a well-established opportunity for patients to influence decisions about the services, how they are provided and how the Practice is run. Our working relationship is excellent and acts as a conduit to the Practice partners and staff on many issues.

We want to include as many of our Practice population we can and this website presents the opportunity for patients of Jacksdale Medical Centre to join the Virtual PPG. If you would like any further information or are interested in taking a more active role in the PPG please contact us at the surgery either in person, by telephoning us on 01773 608760.

What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

Patient Participation refers to patients taking an active interest in their health care providers. Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) operate within most GP surgeries and health centres. Priorities are decided and agreed in order to meet local needs and to reflect the interests and commitment of the participants.

PPGs play an important role in informing the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) via a Clinical Reference Committee made up of GP representatives for each locality in a region about the patient’s perspective on the quality, availability and provision of services.

We would like to know how we can improve the surgery services and how you perceive the surgery and staff. To help us with this, we are setting up a Virtual Patient Participation Group so that you can easily have your say without being committed to meetings. Members of the Virtual Patient Participation Group will be asked questions, from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you receive. Contact will be via email and your personal details will not be passed on to any others. The surveys are usually short so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.

Our aim is to increase the number of survey responses and to gather results from as broad a spectrum as possible in order to get a good representative sample. We would like young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from all ethnic groups to assist by signing up.
